Michael Speakman formed HFB Financial Planning with Neil Swainson in October 2013.
Michael and Neil met at HSBC where Michael spent 26 years working with clients to help them create a strong financial future for themselves, their family and their business.
Michael's career at HSBC started in the retail side of the bank where he progressed into branch management. He then took a role as a financial adviser providing tailored financial planning advice to personal clients, helping build and protect their wealth for the benefit of their families.
In the mid 1990's he took a position working within the commercial market as a Commercial Financial Planning Manager which then led to a position as a Commercial IFA. He then progressed to Area Commercial Wealth Manager looking after a team of Financial Advisers providing advice to both commercial and personal clients.
Michael then moved into the regional management team looking after Commercial Independent advisers and restricted Commercial Wealth Managers. He ensured the team maintained the highest professional standards and technical expertise making sure the client always came first.
During the early part of 2013 there were major changes within HSBC as the bank decided to withdraw face to face holistic financial planning to its commercial customers. This gave Michael and his colleagues an exciting future and HFB was formed.
HFB Financial Planning aims to provide Holistic financial planning to both Families and Businesses.
Michael is a professionally qualified financial adviser with a successful track record of providing holistic financial planning advice to clients as well as leading and motivating teams in a fast paced, regulated environment. He is a firm believer in doing what is right for the client and maintaining a very high standard of service to those clients. The main reason for forming HFB was to continue this service proposition within the Commercial and Personal market place.
Michael is married with two children and enjoys playing tennis, running and spending time with his family.
Michael is a very genuine person, who has my best interests at heart when discussing my financial investments. His advice is always sound, making the whole investment process totally stress free for me. I would 100% recommend him to my friends. Ms M - Self employed (Norfolk)
We have been advised by Michael for a number of years now. We are impressed by his knowledge and application of financial advice to our circumstances. We believe that we would not be as well placed, financially, in our retirement without his assistance. Mr & Mrs B - Retired (Bourne)

In the early 1980s Steve joined the TSB bank plc as a financial adviser and then moved on to work at HSBC bank plc where he spent the next 21 years of his career. We have always found her to be utterly professional in her approach, and very flexible with her time. We have recommended her to many of our colleagues, and friends, who have all had very positive experiences. Mrs S, Accountant (East Midlands)
The relationship between advisor and client has to be based on trust, that trust comes from the clients belief that the advisor only ever has the clients best interests at heart. This needs to be backed up by professional competence and that the advisor has enough information of the clients personal circumstances to give the correct advice. Alison certainly meets all these competences and that is why Alison has been my only financial advisor for over 10 years. Alison has certainly earned my trust. Mr B (Derbyshire)
We have known Alison for at least 12 years guiding our financial future through our working life to pension life. Her experience is exemplary with good solid advice catering for our individual "money matters". Alison made the "incomprehensible" understandable and navigated us to a financial portfolio facilitating an earlier retirement! Regular catchups to ensure all on course and adjustments if necessary. We have no hesitation in recommending Alison's services to anyone looking at their financial future. Mr & Mrs M, Retired (Leicestershire)

Prior to his financial career and as a result of his father being in the Foreign Office, he spent most of his childhood abroad, living in a variety of countries, Czechoslovakia, Singapore, Kuwait, Bulgaria, Iraq, Greece, to name a few. An honours degree was achieved in 1978 at Hull University, where he majored in Economics. Then a short time was spent in the Licenced Trade before being commissioned into the army in 1981.
After leaving the regular army he commenced his career in finance in 1985, whilst continuing with a TA commitment for several years. Initially, he learnt his trade with The Equitable Life Assurance Society where he remained for 16 years, until a move was forced upon him as a result of Equitable Life closing to new business.
His career continued with a number of well-known Wealth Assurance companies both in the Independent and Restricted space. Hargreaves Lansdown, St. James's Place and Towry being perhaps, the most noteworthy.
A strong desire to have more control over his business for the remainder of his career led to partnership with one of the UK's largest Networks, 'Intrinsic' in 2014.
Iain ran his business as a Sole Trader for four years and when the exciting opportunity arose within the Network to join HFB Financial Planning Ltd he took it and is now part of a larger team working with the same goals in mind.
He is a professionally qualified financial adviser with a successful record of providing financial advice to clients and building long term relationships through trust and fully understanding his client's needs. He is enthusiastic and has chosen to remain in a client facing role as he enjoys meeting clients and helping them plan for their long-term future. Iain has spent his career building his brand through honesty, integrity, technical expertise and taking a straight forward approach to helping clients achieve their goals and aspirations.
Outside of work, Iain used to be a keen runner which included running for charity in many Marathons (including 10 London) over a 25-year period. Now the running has given way to walking, with daily targets set and mostly achieved! Iain enjoys spending time with his wife and son. He also enjoys music, playing snooker, socialising and history traveling within the UK to unvisited - historical destinations to broaden his knowledge of our history, towns, and countryside.
Iain Macleod has been my financial advisor for many years. I totally trust his advice and he has made the complicated process intelligible. I look forward to our regular meetings and his comments about my pension plan. Mrs B, retired (Northampton)
We have known Iain in his financial capacity for a good many years now and wish to say he is such a gentleman, easy to get on with, and always ready to explain any terminology that we do not understand about our Portfolios and how they can work best for us. We are also very happy that Iain joined up with HFB Financial Planning in recent times which gives Iain great backup services and sends us regular Reviews and Updates to read too. We normally meet yearly (or chat on the telephone) to discuss any concerns, or financial worries we may have and he always gives us reassurance. In fact he has become a very good friend over the years - we always enjoy a great chat and a cup of tea when he visits. Mr & Mrs R, Retired (Cambridge)
